Working with Octane Public Relations, LLC, we took on the challenge to art direct and produce a city-wide campaign that addressed the serious issue of the rapid use of Synthetic Marijuana (aka K2) in Washington, DC.

This award winning campaign was to inform the residents of Washington, DC about the deadly and life altering dangers of using Synthetic Marijuana.

The K2 Zombie campaign worked with the media and the DC Government to help make the sale of Synthetic Marijuana (aka K2) illegal.

The K2 Zombie Campaign

Fake weed, or K2/Spice, is becoming a serious issue in Washington, DC. It’s being marketed directly to you and your friends.  And because this drug is easily accessible, many people think it’s safe. But it’s not. That’s why this campaign was created—to give you the information you need about fake weed and other synthetics. We’ll answer your questions about synthetic marijuana, including:

• What is it?
• What is it made of?
• How does it affect me and my health?
• Is it legal?

The effects of fake weed can be severely harmful. Fake weed causes extreme anxiety, paranoia, panic attacks, alienation/disassociation, psychotic episodes and hallucinations. This behavior has been labeled the “zombie” effect. The truth is, there’s no way to tell how fake weed will affect you and your body because we’re all different. Using it just once can cause serious health effects— and can even be deadly.

We know that you’re smart enough to make decisions about using fake weed. But with the K2 Zombie DC campaign, we want to give you the information you need. Don’t just get that information for yourself – share it with your friends and family.

In response to the prevalence of fake weed use among youth in the District of Columbia, the DC Department of Behavioral Health’s Addiction Prevention & Recovery Administration launched a comprehensive social marketing campaign, K2 Zombie DC, in May 2013.

The mission of the DC Department of Behavioral Health is to promote and protect the health, safety and quality of life of residents, visitors and those doing business in the District of Columbia.
